To come up with building challenges for Kindergarteners at the start of the year, I typically turn to Wonderopolis for inspiration. As their website states, Wonderopolis is “a place where natural curiosity and imagination lead to exploration and discovery in learners of all ages. Each day, we pose an intriguing question—the Wonder of the Day®—and explore it in a variety of ways.”
The video is most often the source of what we are going to create that day. It’s from that video that a prompt is formed into the challenge for the kids to solve. What follows is a selection of pictures associated with some of the prompts used during this particular week.
Wonder #1738 – “What is the Weather Like on Other Planets?” inspired this prompt: “How can we protect ourselves on other planets?”
Wonder #652 – “Where Do Bugs Sleep?” inspired this prompt: “How can we make a home for bugs?”
Wonder #1740 – “How Does a Sawfish Use Its Saw?” inspired this prompt: “What can we use a saw for?”
